\nThis spring, the ministry of defense of the russian federation plans to add 160,000 people to the army. This is more than in any of the previous three years of full-scale war.<\/p>\n
\u25ab\ufe0f In spring 2022, 134,500 people were sent to service, in autumn \u2013 120,000. In 2023, 147,000 were drafted in the spring and 130,000 in the fall. In 2024 \u2013 150,000 and 133,000 respectively.<\/p>\n
Although the russian authorities claim that conscripts are not sent to the combat zone, once in service, they are forced to sign contracts \u201cvoluntarily\u201d and end up on the front line. Thus, conscription has become one of the kremlin\u2019s tools to compensate for heavy losses at the front.<\/p>\n
