A similar trend is observed with other portable electronics \u2014 laptops, tablets, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f russian propaganda is trying to explain this collapse by claiming the market was \u201coverheated\u201d in previous years and that russians have supposedly already updated their gadgets and \u201cthe new replacement cycle has not yet begun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, the situation in the smartphone market is the result of broader economic crises in russia amid massive war expenditures and Western sanctions. The real incomes of average russians have dropped significantly. On top of that, loans in russia have become much more expensive and less accessible over the past year.
