As a result, more than a dozen Russian power plants will go without new turbines, boilers, and transformers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Western sanctions have cut Russia off from European equipment, and domestic production is unable to provide a quality replacement. This has caused the cost of modernizing energy infrastructure to skyrocket.
