Currently, Russian companies are involved in more than 10 oil and gas projects in Algeria, Libya, and Egypt. In addition, Russians are actively promoting their nuclear energy projects on the continent.<\/p>\n<p>In the face of sanctions and the loss of markets and influence in Europe, Africa is becoming one of the Kremlin&#8217;s important areas of \u201cenergy expansion.\u201d As in the EU, in Africa, Russia is trying to use energy primarily as a tool for economic blackmail, ideological indoctrination of the local population, and strengthening its political influence.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s goal is not mutually beneficial cooperation, but the imposition of long-term energy dependence on the Kremlin on African countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russian state-owned Lukoil has signed an agreement with the Egyptian government to develop local oil fields.
