{"id":25063,"date":"2024-12-28T13:31:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-28T11:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cpd.gov.ua\/?p=25063"},"modified":"2024-12-28T13:38:27","modified_gmt":"2024-12-28T11:38:27","slug":"putin-is-tightening-the-screws-out-of-fear-of-rebellion-and-betrayal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cpd.gov.ua\/en\/results\/rf-en\/putin-is-tightening-the-screws-out-of-fear-of-rebellion-and-betrayal\/","title":{"rendered":"Putin is tightening the screws out of fear of rebellion and betrayal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has signed several laws aimed at tightening control within the country.<b> <\/b>These laws, which propaganda describes as measures to \u201cprotect sovereignty,\u201d are, in fact, an attempt to safeguard the regime from new threats, such as Prigozhin&#8217;s march on Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Participation in an armed rebellion is now punishable by 15 to 20 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Those convicted of terrorism or armed rebellion will no longer be eligible for conditional release.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Foreign nationals who assist in attempts to undermine Russia&#8217;s security face up to 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ab\ufe0f Criminal liability for crimes against military service was introduced for volunteers, including desertion, insubordination, and the destruction of military property.<\/p>\n<p>The adoption and signing of these laws confirm that the Kremlin is increasingly fearful of internal threats and is attempting to shield itself through legislation.
