The CCD continues its series of reports on the main executors of Russian propaganda in the occupied territories of Ukraine. Today, we will introduce Ismail Abdullaiev, a propagandist who assisted the occupiers in launching television in Donetsk and Kherson.<\/p>\n
Little is known about his activities before the Russian invasion. He was a member of the Donetsk KVN team and later headed an advertising company. In 2014, Abdullaiev sided with the occupiers, advocating for the \u201cindependence of Donbas\u201d and promoting the ideas of the \u201cRussian world.\u201d He was involved in creating the occupation TV channel Oplot TV and even led it for some time. The channel aired harsh anti-Ukrainian propaganda, conducted numerous interviews with pro-Russian militant leaders, and glorified the occupiers, portraying them as \u201csaviors of Donbas from Ukrainian Nazism.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops in 2022, the occupiers invited Abdullaiev to head the Kherson TV channel. He was appointed director of the occupation-run Kherson TV and radio company Tavria, which was established using Ukrainian media equipment appropriated by the invaders. After the liberation of Kherson, Tavria relocated to Henichesk, where it continues to operate today.<\/p>\n
Notably, Abdullaiev changed his first name to Volodymyr after starting work in then-occupied Kherson. Russian propagandist Alexander Malkevich, under whose leadership the Tavria TV channel was launched, shared several photos with Abdullaiev on social media, referring to him as \u201cVokha.\u201d<\/p>\n
In Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council has imposed sanctions on Abdullaiev until at least 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
