The discussion \u201cCountering Russian Disinformation and Building Societal resilience to Information Challenges\u201d was organized by the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia and the Delegation of the European Commission to Latvia as part of the BreakTheFake information campaign to combat Russian disinformation.<\/p>\n
According to the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, during two panels, Ukrainian and Latvian experts and researchers shared their professional experiences in combating Russian disinformation. They discussed the impact of Russian disinformation campaigns on the populations of Ukraine and the EU and explored ways to build effective systems for countering Russian aggression in the information space.<\/p>\n
The first panel, \u201cHow to Effectively Counter Russian Disinformation and Propaganda: Ukrainian and European Experience,\u201d featured Valeriia Stepaniuk, acting head of the Ukrainian fact-checking project VoxCheck; Maksym Yali, analyst at the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security of Ukraine; Rita Rudu\u0161a, Latvian journalist and founder of the Baltic Center for Media Excellence; and Anete Berzkalne, disinformation and fact-checking expert and journalist at Latvian Radio.<\/p>\n
The speakers at the second panel, \u201cHow to Build a System of Information Counteraction to Russian Aggression: Strategies and Prospects,\u201d included Viktor Makarovs, Special Representative for Digital Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia; Maryna Vorotyntseva, Advisor to the Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine; and Svitlana Slipchenko, Deputy Executive Director of Vox Ukraine.<\/p>\n
BreakTheFake manager Mykhailo Dankanych presented the project’s key goals and objectives in combating Russian fakes and propaganda.<\/p>\n
