«The French Flag» and «Nazism Storyline»: New Fake Narratives from ru-Propaganda About Events in the kursk Region
The Center for Countering Disinformation continues to monitor the russian information space and detect new fakes and manipulations regarding events in the kursk region, spread by enemy propaganda.
The CCD has recorded another wave of disinformation publications on the following topics:
◽️ «Ukrainian Nazism». A fake report from a British TV channel is being circulated, claiming that journalists allegedly counted 1,000 instances of Nazi symbols used by Ukrainian soldiers in a video from the kursk region.
◽️ «Torture of russian Prisoners». Enemy resources are actively spreading a video allegedly showing Ukrainian soldiers torturing captured russians. ru-propaganda uses this narrative to discredit Ukrainians and scare their own soldiers from surrendering.
◽️ «Stolen Headphones». The theme of looting is being promoted, with claims that Ukrainian soldiers in the kursk region are allegedly stealing, including a story from a «local resident» who supposedly tracked her headphones to the Sumy region.
◽️ «Military Training in Schools». Enemy propagandists, citing a captured Ukrainian, claim that soldiers for the operation in the kursk region were trained in a school in one of Zhytomyr’s villages. Publishing the coordinates of such facilities through enemy resources is often an «announcement» of a missile strike.
◽️ «Atrocities Against Civilians». New «testimonies from refugees» from the kursk region have emerged, where they make baseless claims about mass killings and mistreatment of civilians by Ukrainian soldiers. According to one such «refugee», foreign mercenaries allegedly raised the French flag over one of the villages in the kursk region.
