The fake about the participation of North Korean soldiers in the war against Ukraine

The fake about the participation of North Korean soldiers in the war against Ukraine

The fake about the participation of North Korean soldiers whom the leader of the DPRK will allegedly send to fight together with russian soldiers in the war against Ukraine.

Pro-kremlin journalist Ihor Korotchenko (former retired employee of the GU General Staff of the Armed Forces of the russian federation) announced this on the air of one of the Russian talk shows on the federal channel “Russia-1”. He expressly declared that 100 000 North Korean soldiers were ready to fight against Ukraine.

According to him, the “governments” of ORDLO can sign an agreement with Pyongyang on gearing up “volunteers” from North Korea. “If North Korea expresses a desire to fulfill its international duty to fight against Ukrainian fascism, we should allow them,” he added. Meanwhile, the propagandist sang praises to the North Korean regime, pointing out that the government of North Korea (DPRK) has “rich experience in counter-battery warfare.”

Probably, this was a sign of the successful counter-strikes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the occupiers of the russian federation with the help of Western weapons.

Currently, the official Pyongyang does not confirm such a proposal, but russian propaganda has already picked up the message about “international assistance of the DPRK.” Similar statements are already being made in the russian Ministry of Defense.

The leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un, is one of the few world politicians who has publicly declared his full support for the actions of putin’s regime.

On July 13, Pyongyang recognized the “independence” of the Donbas territories temporarily occupied by the russian army. In response, Ukrainian authorities decided to break diplomatic relations with the DPRK.

The standing army of the DPRK includes more than 1 million people. The other 4.5 million people are in the armed reserve. Thus, the DPRK can field an army equal to one-fifth of the country’s population in case of war.

However, why are similar narratives a purely propagandist move? Is their implementation unrealistic?

First, the “Friendship Bridge”  is the only logistical artery between the DPRK and russia. More than 10 000 kilometers of track lie from this point to Ukraine. Even an attempt to transport hundreds of wagons with 100 000 North Koreans by rail from the East will lead to a logistical collapse paralyzing the entire life of russia’s regions. Even a cursory calculation indicates that it will take at least five months to redeploy the troops to the Ukrainian border.

Secondly, the russian command cannot fully provide its army with the bare necessities, not to mention such a mass of foreigners.

Thirdly, an attempt to coordinate actions and command multilingual units will lead to the loss of control and chaos in the russian army.

Fourthly, despite the million-strong army, the Korean dictator needs 100 000 soldiers to limit the discontent of his own people and confront South Korea and NATO.

Therefore, the fake about “volunteers from the DPRK” is the continuation of the propaganda campaign launched in March to be spread among the audience, including the Western thesis about the readiness of some foreign “allies” to assist the russian army. The announcement of North Korea’s aid comes amid the fact that several russian satellite states are already providing the so-called volunteer forces.

The so-called volunteer battalions are being formed throughout the territory of the russian federation, supposed to be sent to Ukraine for war. At least 30 thousand soldiers (“cannon fodder”) can be recruited into these subordinate units, and at least a third of them will immediately move to Donbas.

russian Telegram channels shared videos with African volunteers who swore to come to Ukraine to fight for russia. Then the federal channels claimed that Bashar Assad would send 15 000 of his elite warriors to Ukraine, and the Supreme Commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, would send Libyan thugs. Nothing of the kind happened, and russia still remains “alone” in its aggression.
