How russian authorities used dugina in the war against Ukraine

The death of daria, the daughter of the ideologue of the “russian world” and putin’s ally oleksander dugin, as a result of a car explosion on the moscow region highway, caused a strong reaction both in russia and in the world.

Various versions of what happened were considered – from the explosion of a gas cylinder to a planned assassination attempt on dugin himself, who was supposed to be with his daughter, but decided to travel in another car at the last minute.

However, now law enforcement officers consider the detonation of an improvised explosive device planted under the car as the main version of the terrorist attack.

The question arises – what was the purpose of the plotters of this act?

Obviously, the first russian propaganda was to adopt the version of the “Ukrainian” trace in the terrorist attack. The argumentation of propagandists was simple. Western media call dugin one of the pillars of the ideologies of the “russian world” and neo-Eurasianism – the concepts of russia’s dominance over its neighbors, confrontation with the United States and NATO and the spread of its influence in the Eurasian continent, and who is heeded by putin.

In 2014, dugin became notorious for his harsh anti-Ukrainian statements, in particular, commenting on the tragic events in Odesa on May 2, he urged to “kill, kill and kill” Ukrainians. He strongly supported the war in Ukraine and demanded that russian elites should openly voice their position on this issue in his recent publication.

Dugin has also been on the EU sanctions list since 2014, and on the US and Canadian sanctions lists since 2015 for his supposed involvement in the russian annexation of Crimea. His daughter fully supported her father’s ideology, worked as a political columnist for the International Eurasian Movement founded by Dugin, and wrote political articles for pro-kremlin RT and “Tsargrad” under the pseudonym Daria Platonova. The US and UK authorities accused her of spreading disinformation and put her on the sanction lists.

Despite the fact that apart from propaganda clichés about the possible involvement of Ukrainian security forces in the terrorist attack, no evidence has been provided, this version is actively promoted in the information space. At the same time, russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman maria zakharova claimed that if the Ukrainian trace in dugina’s murder is found, “it is a policy of state terrorism”.

As early as August 22, the Center for Public Relations of the russian FSB “reported” on solving the crime. They claimed that Ukrainian special services allegedly ordered the terrorist attack, and the perpetrator was a citizen of Ukraine Natalia Vovk, who disappeared in Estonia after the murder. The pro-Russian media disseminated Natalia Vovk’s fake service certificate as a soldier in the Ukrainian regiment “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine.

The Azov regiment immediately refuted this information!

The Finnish expert Lauri Linnamäki confirmed the fake identity of the accused in the murder of dugina based on the photo analysis and the extra shadows, discrepancies in background and proportions that he detected.

Nonetheless, margarita simonyan reacted with a post urging to eliminate “the killer of dasha in the outskirts of Tallinn”.

The rf senator dzhabarov called for “tough actions against Tallinn sheltering the terrorist”, and the permanent rf representative to the UN nebenzya said that russia would raise the issue of daria dugina’s murder at the UN Security Council meeting scheduled for August 24, just when the UN Security Council meeting on the war in Ukraine was scheduled.

Russia is struggling to mirror all its crimes on Ukraine, thus trying to avoid the recognition of the rf as a state sponsor of terrorism. The rf is also planning to discuss the death of the propagandist at the UN in order to distract the world’s attention from the UN Security Council meeting on the war in Ukraine scheduled for August 24 and to protect itself from being recognized as a state sponsor of terrorism.
