Why Lavrov talks about Russia’s “readiness” for negotiations
russian foreign minister sergey lavrov gave a big interview to russian media, in which he continued the propaganda game — pretending that russia is ready for peace negotiations.
In particular, lavrov tried to convince that the meeting between the leaders of the US and russia in Budapest was disrupted not because of russia’s actions, but due to Washington’s inaction, and emphasized that moscow is ready for such a meeting and “remains committed to the agreements of Trump and putin.”
Moreover, the head of the russian foreign ministry once again repeated the russian propaganda theses about “Nazis in Ukraine,” that “demilitarization and denazification are mandatory conditions for ending the war,” and also threatened “nuclear tests.”
These statements by lavrov indicate that russia’s tactics remain unchanged — trying to convince the US of its readiness for negotiations without taking any real steps toward peace.
The goal of these actions is also unchanged — to delay the introduction of new sanctions as long as possible while continuing the war.
