The anniversary of the battles for DAP: ru-propaganda again promotes the myth of “saving Donbas”
On the anniversary of the first battle for Donetsk Airport, which took place on May 26, 2014, russia has intensified its usual propaganda, using manipulations about the events of 2014 to justify its armed aggression against Ukraine.
▫️ The main messages promoted by kremlin propagandists are that “Kyiv started the war,” and russia “saved Donbas from genocide.” russia continues to fabricate a false image of itself as the “liberator of Donbas,” while in reality, over 11 years, it has driven the occupied areas of Donetsk region into economic and humanitarian decline.
▫️ The economy of the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of Donetsk is not developing; it relies exclusively on subsidies from moscow. Even these funds are insufficient to repair worn-out infrastructure and to provide people with basic needs such as uninterrupted water supply.
The propaganda campaign is designed to hide the obvious truth: russia has brought war, degradation, and isolation to Donbas.
