Medieval barbarism in Chechnya: why Kadyrov will get away with it again
A shocking act of barbarism in chechnya has stirred the russian public. Residents of the town of achkhoy-martan were forced into the town square, where authorities exposed the body of a 17-year-old boy accused of attacking police officers. The leader of chechnya, ramzan kadyrov, in defiance of the law, ordered the expulsion of all the boy’s relatives from the region. At the same time, propagandists and official government representatives in moscow have not commented on the incident.
▫️The kremlin systematically uses terror and intimidation to control the population. For years, Kadyrov and his “pocket army” have been loyal enforcers of the regime. Moreover, putin granted the chechen leader unlimited powers in exchange for loyalty.
But there is a flip side — putin has become a hostage to this situation. Through his atrocious actions and lawlessness, kadyrov humiliates moscow. Yet he knows full well that he can get away with it.
